A2Dominion pay £6,000 after failing to resolve damp issues

Background

Upon moving into her home in January 2018, Ms. W’s problems began almost immediately with damp and mould in every room of her property. Despite numerous complaints to her landlord, A2Dominion South Limited, nothing was done to address the disrepair in Ms. W’s home.

Representation

In March 2022, Ms. W instructed us to act on her behalf. Upon attending the property, the surveyor found disrepair with a value of £3,250.00.

Prior to Court proceedings being issued, A2Dominion did make offers to compensate Ms. W, however, the compensation did not consider the years Ms. W had suffered with the disrepair being unresolved in her property, and the length of time they were proposing for the works to be carried out was too long.

Resolution

In October 2023, after numerous offers were made by A2Dominion South Limited, an agreement was reached for Ms. W to be paid £6,000.00 in compensation and for the repairs to be carried out to her property within 90 days.

However, despite this agreement being reached, A2 Dominion South Limited have failed to carry out the repairs to Ms. W’s home, and as such they are now in breach of this. An application has been made to the Court to confirm that A2Dominion South Limited have failed to adhere to their obligations and that it should now be down to the Court to decide how long A2 Dominion South Limited will have to complete the repairs and for further compensation to be awarded to Ms. W for the further inconvenience caused.
