A Complicated RTA Claim Gets Settled

Martin was a passenger on a bus back in early 2015. He had been in Liverpool to meet up with his mates and was on his way home when a car drove out of a side road and collided with the bus. Martin suffered injuries as a result. He contacted Irvings for help with a personal injury claim.

The driver of the vehicle who hit the bus turned out to be a German national and his vehicle was registered in Germany. This complicated matters as we would need to find the UK agents of the German insurance company to start Martin’s claim.

We had to take steps to liaise with the Motor Insurers Bureau here in the UK, as they deal with claims concerning uninsured drivers and untraced drivers, and they also offer assistance in respect of accidents concerning foreign registered vehicles. With their help the UK agents of the German insurance company were found, and a claim was then submitted to them.

Then another roadblock was hit. The defendant’s insurance company refused to settle and due to this court proceedings had to be issued on the case. This led them to put forward various offers, but they were too low to cover the injuries Martin sustained to his neck and back. Seeing that we were ready to go to trial, the insurance company finally came to us with a suitable offer and the case settled for over £3000. Martin was pleased with his settlement and so were we.
