Workplace hazards can come in various forms, including faulty construction…
Rob was working at a local supermarket deli counter and was removing a metal tray from a shelf. Unbeknownst to him, the metal tray was resting against an exposed live wire so as soon as he touched the tray, he was electrocuted.
He received immediate medical treatment and luckily, the electrocution was not too severe. However, Rob was unable to work for 2 weeks. Right away he knew he had an injury claim and contacted Irvings.
After raising the claim with his employer, we secured an admission of liability. During this process, we also had Rob medically examined and obtained a medical report which detailed his injuries; pain to his arm, neck, shoulder, back along with some headaches and anxiety. In addition to this the most unusual consequence of the electrocution was that Rob’s hand and arm occasionally turned blue! Thankfully, the medical expert was confident that his injuries would continue to improve and were likely to resolve over a period of 8-10 months.
Taking into consideration his injuries and the recovery time, we negotiated with the defendants and settled on an award of £5,200.00. Rob was very pleased with the result and so were we.
Most unfortunately for Rob his routine tasks at work were interrupted by a completely unexpected and very painful injury. If something similar has happened to yourself and you want more information on making a claim, give us a call; 0800 954 0243.
