Our client, Ms B, had been complaining regularly about various issues within their property including the heating, cracks, holes, and damp throughout the property since 2013. Ms B complained about the heating for a severely long time which meant the property was always cold which exacerbated other disrepair issues. Further issues had also been complained about for a shorter period.
The defendant Freebridge Community Housing failed to undertake remedial works to fix the disrepair, on that basis Irvings Law were instructed to pursue a claim.
A surveyor was instructed to inspect the property, the surveyor advised that the costs of the remedial works would be in the region of just under £11,000.00.
Proceedings were issued and after various offers between the two parties one being just £7,000.00 from the defendant the case was eventually settled for £15,000.00.
