Mr Matthew McConville, Head of Irvings Law’s specialist Actions Against the Police and Data Breach Department, has successfully represented Andrew Little in a claim for compensation against Hertfordshire Constabulary.
Mr Little reported an allegation of rape to Hertfordshire Constabulary on behalf of his daughter. During the investigation process, the investigating officer emailed Mr Little detailing the next steps within such an investigation but this email was also sent to the suspect’s mother in error and without consent. Mr Little then complained about his email address being breached and in response, the involved officer profusely apologised.
After learning of this, Mr Little approached specialist Actions Against the Police & Data Breach Solicitors, Irvings Law, for assistance. Mr McConville immediately acknowledged that what happened was completely wrong and without hesitation, offered to act for Mr Little by way of “no win, no fee” presenting a claim to Hertfordshire Constabulary on the basis that Mr Little’s human rights to privacy were breached as well as GDPR following this misuse of private information.
After presenting the claim, Hertfordshire Constabulary wished to settle Mr Little’s claim and an agreement was reached not long after such discussions took place in the sum of £1,750.00 plus the payment of his legal costs.
