Slip At Work In Hospital

Background

We acted for a client following an accident at work. Our client was working at a hospital. On her lunch break she was walking to the car park, when she lost her footing due to a pothole on the ground. This caused her to fall and sustain various injuries.

Representation

A claim was submitted to the hospital and liability was subsequently admitted. Medical evidence then had to be obtained from various experts, such as an orthopaedic surgeon and consultant in pain medicine.

It was not possible to settle the case. As a result, Court proceedings had to be issued. The Defendant was given permission to obtain their own expert evidence, as the evidence from the consultant in pain medicine was not agreed.

Resolution

Following this, the parties entered into negotiations to settle the case. The case was subsequently settled for £40,000. Our client was extremely happy to settle the case, and she was very thankful to Irvings Law for obtaining a very positive result, after such a difficult time for her and her family.
